Tired of PC. This is what is actually happening in my head. Weep or cheer. Be baffled or empathetic. Whatever. No topic is sacred. No topic is out of bounds.

For a little heads up of where I'm coming from: I'm a gay ex-mormon who graduated from university with a BFA in Creative Writing-- which of course meant nothing to the job market. So I sacked-up and studied more to be a responsible Computer Systems Engineer.

No political party suits my needs as they are too busy diametrically opposing one another to suit their own needs. I have libertarian inclinations but by no means objectivist modus operandi. I wish the world world stop pandering to their team and just use common sense and deep analysis to get things done.

The Results of Drug Tests on Welfare Recipients in Florida:

Drug testing only benefits the testing company. Typical on conservatives to waste time and money trying to stop a fake issue.

You have to love how they pander to the “everyone on welfare is a mooch and a druggie” types in order to get public support for such a wasteful program - that did nothing but line the pockets of the owners of drug testing facilities.

Weird. That last comment is mine, but my name is missing from the tread.

The way conservatives like to waste money: hiding it in ‘saving money’ propositions that need lots of money to save nothing.  Good on ya.

"Wal-Mart has done more for poor people than any ten liberals, at least nine of whom are almost guaranteed to hate Wal-Mart."

-

Thomas Sowell (via no-historical-relevance)

If he means that WalMart is best at getting their employees subsidized living so that it can pay the employees less to keep its profits high, then he might be right.  That is the only welfare republicans go for, you know.

Welcome to how corporate welfare works.  Reality trumps ideologues (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ideologue).

THIS. My best friend, lady and gentlemen.
With our culture of greed and envy, we didn’t deserve that man as our chief and commander. And he didn’t deserve the bullshit he went through and the bullshit he would have gone through had he been elected. But he was willing, as was his family, to put aside his own comfort for the love and the better of his country.

Mitt Romney: The one person who should have been president, simply because he didn’t WANT that power.

He spent a helluva lotta money to prove otherwise.  So, I’m just ignoring Tagg’s attempt at elevating loss of the White House to some kind of altruistic virtue.  After all, damage control must be done. And to those trying to make this into the sacrifice category:  I neither would trust, nor want, anyone in the Presidency who didn’t both understand and desire that position- badly. Double-fail on damage control.

My response is usually “What kind would you suggest? Please give me an example of a country that has a better one.”

Or, as Jefferson indicated:

“I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and constitutions, but laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors.”

I think scrutinizing ours would be sufficient.  Using our own as the template would work just fine.  Times change.  People change.  Sensibilities change.  Jefferson knew that.

Is Santa Liberal or Conservative?:)

Pretty funny breakdown.  Though I believe Santa made up his own political-economic systems that predate the U.S.  So labeling him by American definitions is futile.  He simply exists outside our reality.

Papa John's, Applebee's And Others Pay Huge Price For Anti-Obamacare Politicking

My message is simpler: If companies make their product political, then don’t be surprised when people make decisions on purchasing your product by political criteria.  YOU put it out there.  Just think how your profits would have been unaffected if you’d keep your business-side out of your product offering.

Plus, knee jerk reactions where you damage your workforce as an answer to throwing a fit at increasing prices or reducing personal profit?  Not likely to be highly supported.

America really looks like this - I was looking at the amazing 2012 election maps created by Mark Newman (Department of Physics and Center for the Study of Complex Systems, University of Michigan)http://www-personal.umich.edu/~mejn/election/2012 And although there is a very interesting blended voting map (Most of the country is some shade of purple, a varied blend of Democrat blue and Republican red) what I really wanted was this blended map with a population density overlay. Because what really stands out is how red the nation seems to be when you do not take the voting population into account; when you do so many of those vast red mid-west blocks fade into pale pink and lavender (very low population). So I created a new map using Mark’s blended voting map based on the actual numbers of votes for each party overlaid with population maps from Texas Tech University and other sources. Here’s the result—what the American political voting distribution really looks like.

Here is another reason why this ridiculous secession gambit will not work.  There aren’t really Red and Blue states.  They are blue, violet, lavender, pink—- all the way to red.  Which state will destroy itself with the Cities vs. the Country just to have the whole, in accord, secede?  If people could stop the childish black and white of partisan opposites, then a lot more energy could be spent attempting to come to the necessary compromises to make America what we, collectively and compromisingly, want it to be.

So you voted for Romney?  What strange company you keep.  Can’t imagine why anyone would think there’s a less-than-honorable, other-than-political variable at play.

For all still trying to dance around the truth that Romney has no agenda to erradicate the path of marriage equality.  This speaks louder than both your personal rationalization as to his intent and thwarts your ability to say he doesn’t want marriage inequality. Now, if you have an elaborate, non-attainable, ideological construct about marriage vs. unions being religious vs. state contracts:  really?  you have to make up a fantasy world that doesn’t exist just so you can live in reality now?  wow.Or, where you think it’s a State’s right issue to individually decided Citizen equality and equal access to government protections based off of sexuality: really?  kind of like slavery, woman’s sufferage, inter-racial marriage are all State rights to decide, right?  Or the idea that equality should be put to popular vote… another wow to your lack of understanding.Your dogma is getting long in the tooth and based on fantasy.
